A Utah native, he brings expertise in MIGS, trabeculectomy, and complex anterior segment surgery, along with a strong commitment to research and global outreach.
Meet Dr. Austin D. Bohner, Glaucoma & Cataract Specialist
Dr. Austin D. Bohner is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist and cataract surgeon with expertise in advanced glaucoma management, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), trabeculectomy, tube shunt surgery, and complex anterior segment procedures. A native of Utah, Dr. Bohner earned his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Southern California’s Roski Eye Institute and Los Angeles General Hospital, followed by a prestigious glaucoma and anterior segment fellowship at the University of Utah’s John A. Moran Eye Center.
Passionate about advancing glaucoma research, Dr. Bohner has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented at national conferences on glaucoma care, surgical innovation, and disparities in eye disease detection. He is equally dedicated to local and global outreach. Through the Moran Eye Center’s Outreach Division, he has provided eye care to the Navajo Nation and traveled to Tanzania to teach local ophthalmologists advanced glaucoma surgical techniques.
Dr. Bohner is dedicated to providing patient-centered care and collaborating closely with each patient to achieve the best possible outcomes. Outside of medicine, he enjoys cycling, trail running, and fly fishing with his wife, CiCi, and their Shetland Sheepdog, Henry.
