An early innovator
Long before LASIK became a household name, Dr. Hoopes was helping advance ophthalmology. He was among the early surgeons to embrace radial keratotomy, an important predecessor to modern refractive surgery, and phacoemulsification, a technique that helped transform cataract surgery.
His work extended to FDA clinical trials and testing that contributed to the approval of laser systems used in LASIK. His Kansas City surgical center was the site of the first official laser procedure performed following FDA approval.

When Dr. Hoopes relocated to Utah, he envisioned more than an advanced surgical facility. He wanted to create an entirely different experience for patients seeking vision correction.
His goal was to bring together leading surgical technology, experienced and compassionate physicians, and an atmosphere where patients felt genuinely cared for. He believed that exceptional medicine should never lose its personal touch. That philosophy became the foundation of Hoopes Vision.

A vision realized in Draper, Utah
The LASIK center was designed to accommodate multiple advanced laser systems, while the on-site ambulatory surgery center, EyeSurg of Utah, became the first facility in the world to feature multiple laser platforms for laser-assisted cataract surgery.
The facility represents Dr. Hoopes' enduring belief that patients deserve access to exceptional surgical care in an environment designed around their needs.
